National Read A Book Day is TODAY. So carve out some time this weekend to pickup a good book and read; even if it is only enough time to get through a few chapters.
If you need a little inspiration for your newest read, here are some books I've recently read and you might like! 📚
Non-Fiction
When God Doesn't Fix It: Lessons You Never Wanted to Learn, Truths You Can't Live Without by Laura Story
Worship leader and recording artist Laura Story’s life took an unexpected turn when her husband, Martin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I really liked this inspiring and faith filled book and was encouraged by the story behind the song "Blessings."
Everybody, Always: Becoming Love in a World Full of Setbacks and Difficult People by Bob Goff
Talk about a convicting book! (In a slightly overwhelming but very good way). Bob Goff is a great storyteller and talks about how to love like God loves. This book will stick with you.
Imperfect Courage: Live a Life of Purpose by Leaving Comfort and Going Scared by Jessica Honegger
This inspiring story is about Jessica, the founder of Noonday Collection and how she started the company in order to fund the adoption of her Rwandan son, Jack, by selling artisan-made jewelry.
Fiction
The Thief by Stephanie Landsem
A biblical historical fiction book that includes the blind man Jesus heals with mud, and the two criminals who died on either side of Jesus. I like reading books like this because it makes the Bible come even more to life and gives historical context to how the people in the Bible probably lived.
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
It took me a few chapters to get into it, but then I was enthralled. The Nightingale follows the very different sisters Vianne and Isabelle who live in France during World War II. It was really good--educational, nerve-wrecking, emotional.
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
A gripping novel about an unstable family of three who impulsively move to Alaskan wilderness in the 1970s. You should read the synopsis on Amazon because it is more exciting than my little explanation. 😂It slightly reminded me of the books "Where The Crawdads Sing" and "Educated."
